Pope Leo XIV to Undergo Surgery After Early-Stage Lung Nodule Is Found

Pope Leo XIV says he will undergo surgery in the coming days after doctors discovered a nodule in one of his lungs during medical examinations. He described it as well-defined, localized and detected at an early stage. Doctors recommended removing it, and he said he had agreed. The operation is scheduled for early this week at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, where he is expected to remain for about a week. The Vatican has not released further details about the procedure.
