Pope Leo XIV was discharged from Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on Saturday and returned to the Vatican, four days after surgery for lung cancer. Doctors removed the lower lobe of his right lung in a procedure that lasted about 90 minutes. The Vatican said blood tests and a chest X-ray supported the discharge decision. Leo told reporters, “I am better, thank you,” as he left. He is expected to lead the Angelus prayer on Sunday. Further tests will determine next steps.
