Poland’s president Karol Nawrocki has renewed his push for a nationwide referendum on whether Poland should continue implementing the European Union’s climate policies. After an earlier proposal was rejected by the Senate, he submitted a revised question, reported as “Are you in favour of Poland implementing the European Union’s climate policy?” He is seeking to hold the vote on Sept. 27. Under Poland’s rules, the president needs Senate approval, but the governing coalition controls enough seats that approval is considered unlikely.
