Pakistan issued ‘démarche’ to Japan over Delhi-Tokyo statement

Pakistan issued a formal démarche to Japan over language used in a Delhi-Tokyo joint statement that cited “cross-border terrorism from Pakistan” and called for action against Pakistan-based militant groups. Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Islamabad raised its concerns through diplomatic channels and described Japan’s endorsement of the wording as inconsistent with facts. He also said Japanese officials assured Pakistan there was no shift in Tokyo’s policy. The statement followed Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s visit to India earlier this month.
