AL-TUWANI, OCCUPIED WEST BANK — A quiet night erupted into violence and panic when a large group of extremist Israeli settlers launched a coordinated, destructive overnight raid on the Palestinian village of Al-Tuwani.
The targeted attack left the village’s central mosque, two residential homes, and a vital local dairy factory severely damaged by fire, marking a sharp and volatile escalation in settler-related violence in the South Hebron Hills region.
According to local residents and community leaders, the attack began under the cover of darkness around 2:00 AM of Monday, July 20, 2026. A mob of masked settlers, reportedly originating from nearby illegal outposts, descended upon the perimeter of Al-Tuwani armed with incendiary devices, flammable liquids, and stones.

Village youths and neighbors rushed to combat the blazes using basic water hoses and extinguishers before Palestinian fire crews could navigate the strictly controlled military checkpoints to reach the isolated area.
The attack on Al-Tuwani is part of a stark, documented surge in settler violence across the occupied West Bank. Human rights organizations have frequently warned that the frequency and severity of these raids have reached unprecedented levels, often occurring under the passive watch or active protection of security forces.
