KYIV — A relentless series of overnight Russian drone and artillery bombardments targeting eastern and northern Ukraine left at least four civilians dead and 14 others injured across the Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions. Local authorities and emergency services confirmed Thursday morning that the overnight strikes damaged critical infrastructure, commercial facilities, and residential neighborhoods.
The overnight barrage struck multiple urban centers and border settlements, causing casualties and destruction across three key regions. Heavy shelling in the Donetsk region claimed two lives in the frontline cities of Druzhkivka and Kramatorsk, leaving nine additional residents injured, according to Regional Military Administration Head Vadym Filashkin.
In the Kharkiv region, shelling killed a 42-year-old woman and injured four others—including two boys aged 10 and 13—in the village of Lymanivka, while jet-powered drone strikes damaged commercial buildings and homes in Kharkiv’s Slobidskyi and Osnovianskyi districts. Meanwhile, Chernihiv Regional Governor Viacheslav Chaus reported that consecutive drone strikes on a commercial facility in Chernihiv killed a 61-year-old employee and left another with acoustic trauma, alongside a separate drone attack that set an agricultural warehouse ablaze in Semenivka.
State Emergency Service (DSNS) rescues crews and municipal units were deployed across the affected regions throughout the morning to extinguish structural fires and pull survivors from damaged buildings.
Regional administrators reiterated warnings for residents in border and frontline areas to remain near shelters as air defense units continue to respond to incoming aerial threats across northern and eastern Ukraine.
The intensified aerial campaign highlights the ongoing threat faced by civilian populations residing near the frontlines and northern border districts. In response to the wave of attacks, local government bodies have initiated emergency power and utility restoration projects, while humanitarian groups are providing emergency housing and aid to families displaced by the structural damage.
