Overnight Drone Blitz: 6 Injured, Including Children, in Russia-Ukraine Sky War

KYIV / MOSCOW — A massive exchange of overnight drone strikes across the frontlines in Ukraine and key facilities in Russia has left six civilians injured, including two eight-year-old girls, amid an escalating aerial war. Emergency services were deployed across multiple regions as both Moscow and Kyiv dispatched large waves of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) targeting critical infrastructure, logistics hubs, and urban centers.

In the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, Russian attack drones struck residential quarters, destroying sections of multi-story apartment buildings, shattering windows, and setting fire to nearby vehicle parking areas and commercial storage facilities. Regional military administrators confirmed four civilian injuries in Dnipro, including two eight-year-old girls. One child was hospitalized in moderate condition, while emergency workers cleared burning debris from damaged food warehouses.

Concurrently, overnight air raids targeted the border region of Sumy, injuring two additional civilians as emergency crews scrambled to contain fires sparked by falling drone wreckage. State Emergency Service teams operated throughout the night to douse flames, secure damaged structures, and manage localized power disruptions.

As Russian drones targeted Ukrainian cities, Moscow’s Ministry of Defense reported intercepting a series of Ukrainian long-range strike drones overnight. Russian state media indicated that air defense systems engaged incoming UAVs near key infrastructure targets, including transport hubs near Sochi airport and commercial facilities in southwestern regions.

Ukrainian leadership reiterated that its long-range drone barrages remain direct countermeasures designed to disrupt military logistics, oil refineries, and supply networks driving the continued bombardment of Ukrainian settlements.

The intensification of drone warfare underscores the relentless pressure facing civilian populations along front-line and adjacent regions. International observers and humanitarian agencies continue to express alarm over the heavy toll on residential neighborhoods, warning that expanding aerial offensives risk further destabilizing essential utilities, energy systems, and medical infrastructure as winter approaches.

As diplomatic efforts remain deadlocked, regional authorities are accelerating emergency fortification projects and expanding underground shelter networks in vulnerable urban centers to better protect civilians from the persistent threat of sudden nighttime drone assaults.
