The case for ecosocialist abundance rejects the idea that environmental responsibility requires permanent scarcity or declining living standards. It argues that societies can reduce wasteful production, expand public services, and direct resources toward human needs rather than private profit. Abundance, in this view, means reliable access to housing, healthcare, energy, transportation, education, and leisure within ecological limits. Achieving it would require democratic planning, shorter working hours, renewable energy, and a decisive shift away from extractive economic priorities and social inequality.
