A 15-year-old student at Benson Polytechnic High School in Portland, Oregon, faces 19 charges after allegedly mixing chemicals in the school cafeteria on September 8. Authorities say the incident released toxic gas, and more than 100 students and staff were assessed; at least seven needed medical care. The charges include attempted murder and domestic terrorism. The student’s name has not been released because of his age. His lawyers say he is receiving mental health treatment. Prosecutors are seeking to move the case from juvenile to adult court.
