Police in San Jose said a homicide investigation is underway after a shooting at San Pedro Square, a World Cup fan zone in downtown San Jose, left one person dead and another critically injured.

Officers reported that one victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the second victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said several surrounding streets were closed.
