FAIRFIELD — What was meant to be a day of celebration and milestone achievements turned into a scene of absolute terror late Thursday morning, June 4, 2026 after a shooting volley erupted following a high school graduation ceremony in Northern California, leaving one person dead and three others injured.

Panicked families and graduates in caps and gowns were forced to flee for cover as multiple gunshots rang out just outside the school grounds.

The violent incident occurred shortly after the conclusion of a commencement ceremony at a local high school in Fairfield. According to witnesses, hundreds of attendees were still congregating in the parking lot and surrounding courtyard areas, taking photos and celebrating with family members, when an argument broke out between a small group of individuals.

The verbal altercation rapidly escalated. Within moments, multiple shots were fired into the crowd, sending hundreds of students, parents, and school staff running for safety or ducking behind vehicles to escape the crossfire.

First responders and local law enforcement swarmed the campus within minutes of the initial 911 calls reporting an active shooter situation.
