Off-Duty ICE Agent Shot After Allegedly Assaulting 72-Year-Old Fresno Homeowner

Fresno police say off-duty ICE agent David Gonzalez, 32, was shot in the stomach early Friday after an altercation at a home near East Dudley Avenue and North Broadway Street. Investigators say a resident found Gonzalez sleeping on her lawn and asked her 72-year-old father to intervene. Police allege Gonzalez refused to leave and assaulted both residents, prompting the father to shoot him. An off-duty officer later handcuffed Gonzalez. He was hospitalized and is expected to be booked into Fresno County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
