Russian occupation authorities in Mariupol have approved transferring 20 apartments from so-called municipal ownership to Russia’s federal ownership, the Mariupol City Council reported on November 2. The homes belonged to residents who fled the city during Russia’s blockade and occupation. Officials first declared the properties “ownerless” through rulings by occupation courts, then assigned them to Russian government agencies. Vadym Boichenko, head of the Mariupol City Military Administration, said the move was part of an effort to seize residents’ surviving homes.
