London, United Kingdom— A stabbing inside a nightclub in central London at 1:18 a.m. on October 30, 2026 left three people hospitalized with serious injuries and forced a full evacuation of the venue on Wardour Street.
The incident occurred at The Box Soho, a basement club that was at capacity for a Thursday late-night event. Police said an argument near the bar escalated. A man produced a knife and attacked two men and a woman near the entrance to the dance floor. Security staff tackled him, but he broke free and fled through a fire exit.
Three victims were taken to St Thomas’ Hospital. One, a 24-year-old man, is in critical condition with chest wounds. The other two are stable. All had been stabbed multiple times. No deaths have been reported.
“Staff acted quickly, but the floor was packed,” said a club employee who was behind the bar. “People started pushing toward the stairs. Glasses broke. It took minutes to get everyone out.”
BBC News reported the Metropolitan Police sealed the club within 20 minutes and detained 12 witnesses inside a police cordon for statements. Forensic teams swabbed blood from the entrance hallway and collected the knife, which was found in an alley behind the club.
Detectives said they are reviewing internal CCTV and door staff bodycam footage. The suspect is described as male, late 20s, wearing a black bomber jacket. He left on foot toward Oxford Street. Police said there is no indication the attack was pre-planned or linked to gang activity.
The club had passed a licensing check last month. Soho clubs have faced a rise in knife incidents this year. The local council said it will review door security and ID scanning procedures for late-night venues.
“We have launched an attempted murder investigation,” said Detective Chief Inspector Sarah McDermott. “We have clear images of the suspect and we are asking anyone who was inside to come forward.”
Tonight the venue remains closed with a police guard at the door. The critical victim remains in surgery. Investigators are still taking witness accounts and examining the recovered weapon.
