Netherlands to Ban Imports From Illegal Israeli Settlements Starting Sept. 22

The Netherlands will begin banning imports from illegal Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories starting September 22, the Dutch government announced. The measure covers not only importing goods, but also buying and selling settlement-origin products and related services that facilitate trade, along with attempts to circumvent the rules. The Dutch Foreign Ministry said the action reinforces its obligation not to contribute to an “unlawful situation.” The Netherlands had already decided on the sanctions in May, and the Council of State’s advice did not change the timeline.
