Nepal has ended a 40-day search-and-rescue operation launched after devastating flash floods killed at least 1,455 people. Authorities reported 5,285 missing and 13,795 rescued after the August 26 disaster, which swept through towns, roads, bridges, homes, and hydropower projects. The government will now prioritize rehabilitation and reconstruction, recommending NPR 559.17 billion for 504 recovery programs. Temporary accommodation has been arranged for 1,226 displaced people, while agencies continue essential search activities and coordinate projects across affected provinces and local communities nationwide.
