Naming Ceremony Horror: 9-Year-Old Shot Dead After Refusing to Fetch Water for Alcohol

KASGANJ, UTTAR PRADESH – What was intended to be a joyous naming ceremony turned into a scene of senseless violence when a nine-year-old boy was shot dead in the Kasganj district. The tragedy occurred after the child allegedly refused to fetch water for a group of men to mix with their alcohol.

The incident took place during a traditional naming ceremony held in a village within the Kasganj jurisdiction. According to eyewitnesses, the atmosphere was celebratory until a dispute broke out involving several guests who were consuming alcohol at the venue.

Witnesses claim that one of the attendees demanded the young boy bring water to the table for their drinks. When the child refused to comply with the demand, the situation escalated with shocking speed.

During a celebratory naming ceremony, a man in an alcohol-fueled rage reportedly brandished a firearm and fired a direct shot at a nine-year-old boy. The child collapsed instantly in front of a horrified crowd of relatives and guests. Although family members immediately rushed the boy to a nearby medical facility, doctors tragically declared him dead on arrival.

Shortly after the shooting, local police arrived at the scene to secure the area and initiate a formal investigation. Authorities have successfully identified the primary suspect, who reportedly fled the village immediately after the incident.

A case has since been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including murder charges. Currently, multiple police teams are deployed in an ongoing search to track down the accused and any individuals who may have encouraged the violence.

The village remains in a state of shock and mourning as the family prepares for the child's final rites. Local leaders have called for stricter enforcement of firearm regulations at public gatherings to prevent such "preventable tragedies" in the future.

The victim's father, devastated by the loss, has demanded the harshest possible punishment for the perpetrator. "My son went to a celebration and never came home because of a glass of water," he told local reporters. "Justice must be served."
