Ottawa police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide after two children were found dead in the Findlay Creek area.
Police said they were called to a home in the neighbourhood on Monday, after a third party requested a wellness check. Officers found two boys—aged seven and 12—dead inside the residence.
Ottawa police later said the father was found dead in a vehicle fire in eastern Ontario. Investigators believe the children were brothers, and they are treating the overall case as a double homicide-suicide, while working to determine the timeline across the connected scenes.
Homicide investigators said the investigation is complex and involves multiple locations. Police also said next-of-kin notifications are underway and the children’s identities have not been released. Authorities said there is no indication of an ongoing threat to public safety.
Ottawa police are asking anyone with information to contact the homicide unit, and they note anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
