From November 28 through December 1, the company’s Shopping Event invites shoppers to receive as much as $250 in gift cards when they buy select products.

At first glance, it doesn’t feel like a fire-sale — more like a thoughtful nod to future possibilities. Instead of slashing the price of a device, Apple is effectively giving you purchasing power for your next buy: its gift cards can be used on hardware, accessories, subscriptions, or in-app purchases.

Here’s how the breakdown works, according to Apple’s own event page:

Mac: Up to $250 gift card for models like the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro (with M4 Pro or M4 Max), with smaller amounts for MacBook Air, iMac, and Mac mini. iPad: Up to $100 for iPad Air, the standard iPad with the A16 chip, or iPad mini. iPhone: Up to $75 for models like the iPhone 16 and 16e. Beyond that, Apple is also offering gift card incentives on Apple Watch, AirPods, HomePod, Apple TV, and Beats accessories. But it’s not all devices — some of Apple’s newest products are excluded. According to MacRumors, the iPhone 17 series, the M5-chip Macs, and latest-gen iPad Pro models don’t qualify. Also, educational-pricing purchases and refurbished units won’t count toward this gift-card offer.

Importantly, the gift card isn’t an instant discount — buyers will receive it after purchase, usually via email, to be used later.

Compared to some of the steep discounts offered by third-party retailers during Black Friday, Apple’s approach may feel more restrained — but for loyal Apple customers, the value lies in the flexibility. The gift cards can be saved for accessories, used to pay for Apple services, or even applied to future devices.
