Energy use and supply chain resilience are additional considerations. Large fabrication facilities require stable electricity supplies and access to specialized materials. Micron’s spending plan underscores how central memory technology has become in the race to scale artificial intelligence. While processors often dominate public attention, memory capacity and bandwidth play an equally critical role in enabling AI systems to function effectively.
