NEW DELHI, India — A major fire broke out at a high-density plywood warehouse in East Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar area, sending towering plumes of thick black smoke across the surrounding residential sectors and triggering a massive emergency response.
The fire originated deep within the primary storage facility, where tons of stacked timber, plywood sheets, and flammable industrial adhesives were housed. Due to the high fuel load and dry conditions, the flames rapidly spread throughout the multi-story structure, threatening adjacent commercial units and residential buildings crammed along the narrow urban lanes. No fatalities or serious injuries were reported, as workers inside the facility managed to evacuate immediately when the alarm was raised.
