Former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro called US torture allegations “false accusations” during a New York appearance on Thursday. Prosecutors’ revised indictment accuses him and his wife, Cilia Flores, of conspiring to torture political opponents and US citizens as part of a repression campaign. Maduro rejected the allegations and did not enter a plea; the judge entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf. Flores also pleaded not guilty, saying she was innocent. Their trial is scheduled to begin June 14, 2027.
