Low Visibility Transit Hazard: Five Hospitalized Following Major Highway Collision Along Sheikh Zayed Road

Dubai, United Arab Emirates—A chain-reaction multi-vehicle crash brought morning commuter traffic to a halt along Sheikh Zayed Road today after dense coastal fog dropped visibility down to near zero. The low-visibility pileup crushed the front and rear frames of several sedans and commercial delivery vans along a high-speed lane section. Shattered glass and fluid leaks covered a wide stretch of the main highway artery.

Dubai Police patrols and emergency medical teams responded rapidly, securing the crash zone and closing off affected lanes. Paramedics treated five commuters at the scene for moderate injuries, including bone fractures and whiplash, before transferring them to Rashid Hospital. Medical personnel listed all five in stable condition under observation.

According to preliminary accident reports released by Dubai Police, the incident occurred during peak morning travel hours when sudden sea fog rolled across the urban corridor. A vehicle traveling at high speed failed to brake in time to avoid slowing traffic, triggering a succession of rear-end impacts across three adjacent lanes.

"The fog was so thick you could barely see two vehicle lengths ahead," said a commuter who managed to steer clear of the initial crash. "You suddenly saw red hazard lights flashing right in front of your windshield with zero time to react."

Traffic officers utilized automated smart patrol systems and digital variable message boards along the expressway to warn oncoming drivers and lower variable speed limits down to forty kilometers per hour. Heavy towing units worked quickly to pull crushed vehicles onto flatbed trucks and sweep mechanical debris off the pavement.

The multi-lane Sheikh Zayed Road serves as the primary transport backbone connecting Dubai to neighboring northern and southern emirates. Rapid weather shifts during autumn months frequently bring dense thermal fog across coastal highways, posing extreme risks for high-speed inter-city commuter traffic.

Police authorities urged all motorists to strictly observe foggy weather driving protocols, maintain safe braking distances, and utilize low-beam headlights rather than hazard lights while driving through dense fog banks.

Highway patrols fully reopened all lanes late in the morning after emergency teams neutralized oil spills and cleared all damaged vehicles from the roadway.
