Lithuania has lost the right to host a 2027 Modern Pentathlon World Cup stage in Kaunas after the sport’s governing body withdrew its approval. The event was scheduled for April 13–17. The International Union of Modern Pentathlon said host countries must follow International Olympic Committee recommendations, which allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete under national flags and symbols. Lithuania’s policy requires athletes from those countries to condemn military action and prohibits national symbols. Federation president Justinas Kinderis said the decision was disappointing but not unexpected.
