Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah Recovers Well After Successful Heart Procedure

TRIPOLI, Libya — Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah is in good health and on track to leave the hospital after undergoing a successful heart procedure, officials confirmed Saturday (January 10, 2026).

Dbeibah was admitted to a national health facility earlier this week for a medical intervention related to his heart, according to a statement from the Government of National Unity. The procedure was described as minor, and doctors say it went smoothly.

Health officials at the Musrata Heart, Arteries and Vessels Center said Dbeibah’s condition is stable and improving, and he is currently in the process of being discharged from the hospital.

In a message of thanks, the prime minister expressed appreciation to the medical team and to Libyans who sent well wishes during his brief stay. Government sources say he is expected to resume his official duties soon.

Libya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also extended warm wishes for his recovery, with staff publicly offering their support and prayers for his continued health and success in serving the nation.

Dbeibah’s health update comes at a politically sensitive time for Libya, as the government continues navigating ongoing challenges in governance, security, and the transition toward national elections.
