Lebanon’s army says its troops have begun deploying to a “pilot zone” in southern Lebanon after Israel withdrew from a small part of occupied territory. Units entered the village of Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh, with similar deployments reported in nearby Froun and Srifa. The move follows US announcement of “pilot zone operations” under a trilateral framework and Israel’s pledge to adjust its posture while allowing Lebanese forces to carry out their mission. Officials say disarmament of Hezbollah is a central aim.
