India’s Ministry of External Affairs rejected China’s objection to standardised names for 28 locations and geographical features in Ladakh. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reiterated that the Union Territory is an “integral and inalienable” part of India, adding that China’s denial cannot change this. The names were added to the official Survey of India map following consultation with Ladakh’s administration and local stakeholders. China called the move illegal and void, asserting its own claim to the western sector of the disputed China-India boundary.
