Labour Productivity Rises in Q2 2026 Based on Persons and Hours Worked

Labour productivity in the U.S. nonfarm business sector increased 1.4% in Q2 2026 at a seasonally adjusted annual rate. Real value-added output rose 1.7%, while hours worked increased 0.3%, according to official figures. The results suggest production grew faster than labor input during the quarter, supporting a modest improvement in efficiency. Manufacturing productivity rose 2.4%, although higher productivity did not eliminate broader concerns about costs, wages and the uneven pace of economic growth.
