An overnight failure in the data transmission network used by Italy’s air traffic control system forced ENAV to cut airspace capacity by up to 50% on Friday. ENAV said operations remained safe, ruled out a cyberattack and said capacity was fully restored later that day after switching to a secondary satellite network. The disruption delayed and canceled flights nationwide, including Ryanair services. A 24-hour EasyJet staff strike added to travel disruption. Airports affected included Rome, Milan and Bergamo.
