Israeli Ad Company Helped a Spyware Firm Target Al Jazeera Through Online Ads, Researchers Say

Researchers say Discover-Tech helped Candiru target 45 Al Jazeera devices between 2024 and 2025. Its online ads reached more than 120,000 websites and 75,000 apps. The ads could track users and deliver zero-click spyware without requiring them to click. Researchers found malicious ads appeared in hundreds of sensitive networks, including governmental and nuclear research organizations. Google removed Discover-Tech from its advertising platforms, saying it systematically violated its policies. The case highlights ads as a channel for cyber espionage against targeted users.
