Israeli Culture Minister Miki Zohar said he would immediately seek to revoke the citizenship of filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor after their documentary NAZA won a special jury prize at the Venice Film Festival. Zohar accused the directors of treason and harming Israel for international approval. However, the minister does not have unilateral authority to cancel citizenship. Israeli law requires a formal process involving the interior minister and courts, while the film’s allegations have been rejected by the military.
