Israel blocks construction of key Gaza base planned for international stabilization force

Israel is blocking construction of a temporary base in Gaza intended to house 150 troops from an international stabilization force, according to a report citing a person familiar with the project. The Trump-chaired Board of Peace awarded the construction contract to Louisiana-based Arkel International in early August, but contractors and equipment have not been allowed into Gaza. The outpost was meant to support the force’s deployment and broader reconstruction plans. The Board reportedly hopes Israel may permit work after its October 27 election.
