Najmeh Amini, a 23-year-old accounting student, was sentenced to death on September 16 for blasphemy linked to an online post, reports say. The post’s wording has not been made public. She was sentenced in a separate case to 12 years, six months and one day in prison on charges including acting against national security and spreading propaganda. Amini was arrested amid protests and flagged by Iran’s cyber police. Her death sentence is not final and can be appealed to the Supreme Court.
