Iran Summons French Ambassador Over Reported Crackdown on Student Protests

Iran summoned French Ambassador Pierre Cochard to protest what its officials described as a violent crackdown on student demonstrations in France. Hamid Ahmadi, an acting official at Iran’s Foreign Ministry, alleged that police injured protesters, detained more than 5,000 people, and entered classrooms to assault students and teachers. He called on France to uphold peaceful assembly and education rights, and urged an independent investigation. These allegations were presented by Iranian officials; the report did not include a response from the French government.
