Iran’s military announced it had launched retaliatory strikes against U.S. forces in the Middle East, framing the action as a response to earlier attacks.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its naval forces targeted U.S. deployment sites in the region following what it called U.S. aggression. Iranian state-linked reporting quoted the IRGC describing the strikes as part of a response aimed at U.S. military presence.
Earlier, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed it carried out strikes on Iranian territory in response to an attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC said it retaliated afterward by targeting U.S.-linked military assets.
The announcements came amid a broader pattern of tit-for-tat exchanges in the region, with officials from both sides accusing each other of violating ceasefire-related understandings.
