Internal Security Investigation: Argentine Man Succumbs to Torso Injury Following Violent Urban Neighborhood Skirmish

A major judicial investigation has been launched in Buenos Aires following a violent altercation in the southern low-income neighborhood of Villa 20 that left a 45-year-old resident dead. The incident, which took place near the intersection of Chilavert and Araujo streets in the Villa Lugano district, has reignited intense local debates over law enforcement tactics and the use of lethal force in marginalized communities.

The conflict erupted during the early afternoon when officers from the City Police responded to reports of localized civil disturbances in the sector. Upon arrival, the deployment of security personnel was met with immediate hostility from a crowd of residents, who began launching rocks and bottles at the advancing patrol units.

In the ensuing chaos, police forces utilized crowd-control equipment and non-lethal projectiles to disperse the gathering and secure the immediate perimeter. During the pushback, a resident identified as Gabriel González sustained a severe traumatic wound to his torso and collapsed onto the pavement before fleeing community members could intervene.

Emergency medical technicians from the SAME ambulance service provided immediate on-site resuscitation before transferring the critically injured man to Hospital Piñero in the nearby Flores district. Despite the intervention of trauma surgeons, González succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival, prompting the immediate containment of the hospital perimeter by security forces.

Grief-stricken family members and neighbors quickly organized a massive march through the streets of Villa Lugano, directly accusing the responding officers of utilizing unprovoked, excessive physical force against the victim. The demonstrators have demanded the immediate suspension of the personnel involved, asserting that González was not participating in the active stoning of the patrol cars.

National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 20 has taken formal control of the case, immediately stripping the local municipal force of its investigative powers and delegating all procedural duties to the Federal Police. Investigators have officially impounded all mobile phones, body-worn cameras, and tactical weapons utilized by the units on scene for immediate ballistics and digital examination.

Concurrently, the Ministry of Security’s Office of Transparency and External Control has initiated an administrative inquiry to evaluate whether operational protocols were breached during the neighborhood sweep. Three individuals who were detained during the initial melee, including the victim's son, were subsequently released as forensic pathologists began work on a comprehensive autopsy.

The atmosphere in the southern belt of the capital remains highly charged as human rights groups join the family’s call for institutional accountability. Local community centers have vowed to maintain public demonstrations until the precise nature of the projectile that caused González’s fatal internal trauma is formally declared by independent medical auditors
