Inferno in the Capital: Massive Fire Engulfs Warsaw Ford Dealership

WARSAW, Poland — A massive and dangerous fire ripped through a prominent Ford car dealership and auto workshop in Warsaw’s northeastern Targówek district on Thursday morning, sending thick plumes of black smoke billowing over the Polish capital.

The catastrophic blaze has triggered a massive emergency response, drawing over a hundred firefighters to the scene.

Local residents first raised the alarm shortly after 5:00 AM on Thursday when dense, toxic black smoke began rising over the Bródno neighborhood. Within hours, the fire had rapidly escalated, completely consuming the entire 3,200-square-meter Ford showroom and the adjacent auto service facility.

The intensity of the inferno was heightened by explosions heard within the complex, fueled by highly combustible automotive materials, oils, and vehicles. In addition to the main structure, over a dozen cars parked directly outside the building were caught in the path of the flames and destroyed.

By 8:00 AM, approximately 40 fire crews were actively tackling the raging blaze. Because of the nature of the facility—which contains hazardous automotive chemicals, batteries, and fuel—a specialized chemical rescue team was dispatched alongside aerial platforms and reconnaissance drones to map out the heavily compromised structure.

A spokesman for the State Fire Service confirmed that the source and exact cause of the fire have yet to be located. Because the incident began early in the morning before regular operating hours, authorities could not immediately verify if anyone was inside the building when the fire broke out, though search and recovery operations are pending containment.

The thick black smoke generated by the burning plastics and rubber was visible from miles away, prompting police to completely cordon off Krasnobrodzka Street and surrounding transit routes. The closure caused significant traffic backlogs across the northeastern corridor of the capital.

Emergency services have strongly advised local residents to stay clear of the immediate area, keep their windows firmly closed to avoid inhaling toxic fumes, and strictly follow the directions of first responders on the ground.

A thorough investigation into whether the incident stemmed from an electrical failure, mechanical malfunction in the workshop, or arson will commence as soon as the area is fully cooled and deemed structurally safe by engineers.
