Inferno Destroys Ayutthaya Latex Mattress Factory: Warehouse Collapses as Fire Consumes 4 Lorries

AYUTTHAYA, Thailand — A violent inferno tore through a major latex mattress facility late Wednesday night, September 9, 2026 in Ayutthaya’s Bang Sai district, triggering the total collapse of its primary production warehouse and burning four transport lorries parked on the premises.

Emergency crews responded to Eco Latex Co., Ltd. at approximately 10:00 PM after a security guard raised the alarm upon discovering flames spreading rapidly from an external storage area for foam off cuts and rubber scraps. Fueled by vast stockpiles of highly flammable latex, foam blocks, and textiles, the blaze swept through the 4.8-hectare complex within minutes, sending dense plumes of black smoke towering into the night sky.

More than 50 fire engines and emergency response teams from Ayutthaya and surrounding provinces converged on the scene. Intense heat caused the steel support beams of the main warehouse to fail, leading to a structural collapse that trapped active flames beneath heavy debris.

Firefighters focused heavily on containment tactics, applying specialized firefighting foam to isolate chemical storage units and spraying defensive water walls to protect several nearby residential homes bordering the factory's rear perimeter.
