Industrial Warehouse Fire In Bangkok Kills One Security Guard Working Overnight Shift

Bangkok, Thailand—Firefighters fought a three-alarm industrial blaze that gutted a major logistics warehouse in suburban Bangkok early Sunday morning, leaving one night security guard dead after he became trapped inside the smoke-filled storage compound.

The fire broke out at roughly 2:15 a.m. inside a single-story commercial storage facility housing chemical solvents, plastic packaging, and electronic goods. Heavy black smoke quickly overwhelmed the building's central ventilation grid, blinding interior escape paths.

More than fifteen fire engines and specialized hazardous-materials trucks responded to the facility, encountering intense radiant heat and secondary chemical detonations inside the main storage bay. Firefighters breached outer metal walls with power saws to vent burning gases.

Search teams located the deceased guard near an emergency exit door that had jammed due to heat-distorted metal frames. Paramedics confirmed the 52-year-old security officer died from severe thermal burns and acute industrial smoke inhalation.

Municipal building control officers noted that the aging warehouse lacked an operational overhead sprinkler system and featured unpartitioned storage spaces that allowed the fire to spread rapidly across two thousand square meters.

"The heat was so intense that the corrugated steel roof collapsed into the center bays within twenty minutes of our arrival," said Bangkok Disaster Prevention unit chief Somchai Prasert. "The security officer was attempting to secure electrical mains when the ceiling structure caved in."

Industrial safety inspectors cordoned off the entire industrial park block, cutting power lines and establishing water containment barriers to prevent toxic runoff from entering local drainage canals. Nearby residential blocks were advised to keep windows closed due to acrid airborne chemical fumes.

Arson investigators and forensic police remain inside the cooling ruins inspecting main circuit breaker panels to determine whether an electrical short circuit ignited stored combustible materials. Heavy machinery remains on site lifting collapsed roofing beams to allow thorough interior inspections.
