Indian-Origin Lab Owner Wanted in US Over Alleged $93 Million Medicare Fraud

US authorities have placed Indian-origin laboratory owner Khadeer Khan Mohammed on a federal fugitive list over an alleged $93 million Medicare fraud scheme. Prosecutors say his Texas-based company submitted claims for genetic tests that were not medically authorized, eligible for reimbursement, or used in patient care. Medicare allegedly paid at least $65 million, including about $13 million in one 10-day period. Authorities believe Mohammed may be in Hyderabad and have reportedly seized nearly $6 million from accounts linked to him. The allegations remain unproven.
