India’s Supreme Court has urged authorities to help families claim compensation after 51 Indian nationals died while serving in Russia’s military. The court asked the Ministry of External Affairs to consider publicly inviting claims and to report on payments. Of six claims processed by Russia, five were fully settled and one partially. The Indian government is also trying to locate 77 recruits still untraced. Across Africa, families are seeking information and assistance after investigations documented 502 confirmed deaths among recruits from 40 countries, including Kenya and Ghana.
