India’s Opposition Marches to Supreme Court Over Voter-List Revision

Opposition lawmakers and supporters marched in New Delhi on Monday and submitted a petition to the chief justice, alleging irregularities in a nationwide voter-list revision. Election authorities have removed more than 130 million names since the process began last year. Critics say eligible voters risk losing their right to vote, while the Election Commission and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party deny manipulation, saying the changes remove duplicate and ineligible entries. Protesters are also demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
