India and Russia have expanded discussions on producing Russian aircraft in India under a memorandum between Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and Russia. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said the talks cover the turboprop IL-114 and the jet-powered Sukhoi Superjet 100. He said both aircraft could support India’s regional connectivity plans as new airports are developed. The government wants to begin manufacturing as soon as possible, potentially moving bilateral aviation ties beyond aircraft purchases toward joint production and deeper industrial cooperation.
