ICE will release body camera video only when in the agency’s “best interests,” policy says

ICE is equipping officers with body cameras in a two-month rollout, but its policy grants broad discretion over public release. The rule says video of shootings or other encounters causing death or serious injury will be released only after ICE decides it is “in the best interests of the agency.” A review committee recommends promptly releasing some footage within 72 hours, though the ICE director can withhold or delay release indefinitely for unspecified “specific and compelling circumstances.”
