Grzegorz Braun, a Polish member of the European Parliament, called for restoring the Nord Stream pipelines and proposed that Poland become a shareholder in the project. Speaking at a conference in Lubmin alongside politicians from Germany’s Alternative for Germany party, he said he hoped to one day declare, “I love the smell of Russian gas in the morning.” Polish Energy Minister Miłosz Motyka condemned Braun’s position as contrary to national interests. Nord Stream 1 stopped operating in 2022; Nord Stream 2 never entered commercial service.
