Hyundai Bus Collides With Tractor on Accra Aflao Highway Leaving Multiple Dead and Trapped

Ho, Ghana—A violent collision between a passenger minibus and an agricultural tractor along the Kpetoe-Sarakope stretch of the Accra-Aflao Highway left two people dead and fourteen others injured on Saturday. The crash involved a Hyundai H100 bus carrying twelve passengers and a Ford tractor carrying two occupants, both traveling in the same direction toward Aflao.

Firefighters from the Kpetoe Fire Station rushed to the scene following frantic calls from local commuters reporting trapped victims inside twisted metal wreckage. Emergency crews used specialized cutting equipment to free fourteen passengers pinned inside the crushed passenger transport bus.

National Ambulance Service teams and police officers stabilized the injured survivors before conveying them directly to Ho Teaching Hospital for urgent medical evaluation. Hospital authorities later confirmed that one adult male and one adult female succumbed to severe physical trauma shortly after arrival.

The force of the rear-end collision severely mangled the passenger compartment of the Hyundai bus, scattering personal luggage and vehicle wreckage across the busy highway. Local traffic along the Accra-Aflao transit corridor came to a complete halt as emergency responders cleared the primary roadway.

Ghana National Fire Service officials issued a public statement urging all commercial and private motorists plying regional highways to exercise extreme caution. Authorities emphasized the dangers of improper overtaking and excessive speeding along two-lane transit stretches.

Dozens of local residents gathered along the road shoulders as fire personnel scrubbed fuel leaks off the asphalt to prevent secondary fires. Both damaged vehicles were towed to a nearby police station to facilitate a comprehensive mechanical investigation.

Surviving passengers remain under active medical care inside the wards of Ho Teaching Hospital, with several listed in critical condition. Police officers have initiated formal witness interviews to determine if excessive speed or mechanical failure led to the fatal impact.

The Ghana Police Service continues to investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the highway crash while working to verify the identities of the deceased. Highway patrols have been intensified along the Kpetoe-Sarakope stretch to enforce traffic compliance.
