Hungarian PM’s Presidential Gambit Fails as Polgár Declines Nomination

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar’s attempt to secure a quick presidential successor ran into an abrupt setback after Judit Polgár declined the nomination. The chess legend, offered the role after President Áder Sulyok was pushed out under new constitutional changes, said she did not feel capable of uniting a divided country amid the political tensions.
