The split within Poland’s Law and Justice party is expected to weaken the main opposition group and further fragment the country’s conservative movement. Around 40 lawmakers aligned with former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki have broken away, reducing PiS’s parliamentary influence, funding, organizational strength, and control of committees. Morawiecki’s emerging party could attract about 6% support and become important in coalition negotiations, although it may divide the existing right-wing vote rather than expand it. The rupture also challenges Jarosław Kaczyński’s long-standing dominance and gives Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s coalition a tactical advantage
