Heat Wave to Push Greece Temperatures to 42°C

Greece is facing a renewed heat wave on Monday, August 24, with temperatures expected to reach 40–42°C in parts of the mainland. Athens and Attica could see highs of 40°C, while Thessaloniki is forecast to reach 35°C. Authorities have placed 11 regions under Red Code alerts because of very high wildfire danger, including Attica, Evia, the Cyclades, and parts of the Peloponnese. Residents and visitors are advised to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat, and follow official safety guidance.
