A cyberattack on refrigeration-control software affected hundreds of French supermarkets, causing some fridges and freezers to heat to 50°C overnight. More than 100 Coopérative U stores and at least 300 Intermarché and Netto locations were reportedly targeted; Carrefour and Monoprix also reported affected stores. Retailers removed potentially unsafe food, with losses estimated at millions of euros. The attack targeted older refrigeration units running software that could not receive security updates. French prosecutors have opened an investigation, while the full scale and those responsible remain unclear.
